Basically what I was going for was a bit of young downtrodden character with superpowers. I wanted his clothes to look like he raided a thrift store clothes bin. More to come… I hope.

Okay, so it has been a while since I last posted. Sorry about that gang. But, I have some new art for you and some added pages to my pro art section of my website. If you are a regular to my blog you have already seen most of this art, but I hadn’t added it to my main gallery sections. So I am almost up-to-date.

The art below is not really new. I actually worked this guy up last year for RuneMaster Studios kid-friendly comic, Lions, Tigers, and Bears. I am now getting him up here for you to check out.

Well it seems that the cat is out of the bag… in an interview on Newsarama with Mike Bullock of Runemaster studios the creator of Lions, Tigers, and Bears, it was announced that I will be the new Cover artist for LTB volume 3. Well, not really announced but it’s on there… if you look really hard. Mike Bullock posted a comment to the article letting everyone know that I would be the cover artist for LTB. In the article two of my images were featured, the cover below and a character design of one of the new characters in the upcoming series. I will post him up in the next few days so you can check him out.

My Wife is Most Awesome!

Well, Christmas was indeed good to me this year, well actually my wife was. She bought me a Cintiq 20wsx and I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!! I am just scratching the surface of how this thing will change how I work. But so far, just the hand/eye thing has changed it immensely. I have only worked in Photoshop thus far but I hope that it will be an awesome change in Illustrator, my current app of choice, as well. I got to say, I didn’t deserve it but my wife made me a happy illustrator this year.

Funny thing, you get a revolutionizing piece of equipment and then… you have no idea what to draw. What the? Hardly ever happens, but I guess being struck with the awesomeness of a Cintiq was just a little overwhelming for me. Anyway, my wife suggested my subject matter and away I went.

Popgun Volume 1:Preview pages (sorta)

Welp… Popgun came out November 29th and I am just now getting my preview pages up. So very lame. Oh well, check out these “preview” pieces to get a peek at the Rocket Racers story in Popgun.

Been busy up until now and things are now slowing down considerably. I am hoping to create some new characters and fresh art pieces here pretty shortly. Anyway I am hoping that my postings won’t be as sporadic as it has been.

Popgun Volume 1:More designs

Okay, so I am behind in posting, again. Anyway… here are a couple of new ones this week for Rocket Racersappearing in the new anthology by Image comics called Popgun: Volume 1 written by Michael Woods. Plug. Plug. Plug.

The first one is Janet, Harry’s love interest. I am not sure what her last name is, I am sure it isn’t relevant to the story. Tried to keep her in the time period of the 70’s. I think I got it. The second is Racer 31, he is the “bad guy” of the story. It’s a short story so he isn’t fully developed but he causes some issues for Harry.

Sorry folks but that’s it for the new art. I am seriously busy, and unfortunately it’s nothing I can post. Hopefully, I will get some time to work on some stuff I can post. Anyway… Remember that Popgun is coming out this month, November 28th!

More designs today from the short story Rocket Racers written by Michael Woods and appearing in the new anthology by Image comics called Popgun: Volume 1.

This is the adult Harry Thompson, the main character from the story. You have seen Harry as a boy in an earlier post. Since the story takes place in a “re-imagined 70’s”, Harry’s clothing needed to have that feel. Michael described the suit as part Nascar race uniform and part Space suit. I really tried to stay close to that description.

Popgun Volume 1

Okay.. so here are the Rocket Pack designs that I did for Harry the main character and his racing nemesis Racer 31. They belong to the the short story Rocket Racers written by Michael Woods and appearing in the new anthology by Image comics called Popgun: Volume 1. Just to refresh you memories on what Rocket Racers is all about this is what Michael Woods had to say about it.

On the surface, Rocket Racers is a story set in an alternate 1960’s where people race professionally with rocket packs. But, really it’s about a man having to choose between the woman he loves and the thing he is passionate about most.

Next up is the design for an older Harry and his flight suit.
