Headquartered in San Francisco and with offices in Palo Alto, hello was dreamt up by well-known social scientist, Orkut Buyukkokten. Along with a small group of ex-Google engineers, he has set out to change how the world does social. hello is an unexpected experience that lets you show the world who you are, express what you love and create meaningful connections with people who share your passions. The more beautiful content you create and consume, the more the hellouniverse opens up to you.

Character Design
hello desired young, interesting and unique characters for their in app male and female avatars, along with over 400 variations for all types of varying lifestyles. The final avatar files needed to be designed in Adobe Illustrator to allow for varying size formats.
As well as the lifestyle avatars, hello also needed character designs for a male “greeter” as well as a male and female “guide” for the on-boarding experience that leads you through your profile set up. Plus, a male and female “helper” avatar.
On-boarding design and illustration
You are lead into hello’s adventurous doors by a handsome and ever so friendly greeter, who guides you to your choice of two hello guides. Your chosen guide leads you step by step into hello’s inner sanctum making sure that you don’t miss a stop and are fully equipped to join the party that is hello.
hello required that the entire “on-boarding” process be completely designed and storyboarded to make an exciting and unique experience.
