Created by The Squirrel Girl
Description: Hi-ya! When my kiddos reach an age where they can create their own characters, they hand me a sketch design of their character and I then turn it into an illustration based off their sketch. This particular character was thought up by my baby girl, whom I have nicknamed “The Squirrel Girl”. This illustration comes up just in time for her birthday. I will be putting this little beauty on a shirt for her to proudly wear on her birthday and later I will make a poster for her to display on her wall in her room. These are always fun, ’cause I work closely with them to get it how they like it. I am sure this is one of many that I will be illustrating of her characters. I look forward to many many more.

Hope you enjoy. And yes… I totally agree, her sketch is WAY better than my illustration. :)

Character Design…

Teddy Lockes
Description: My younger bro, Jay Myers, asked me to do up his main character for a story that he is writing. This is a description straight from the Jay-bird:
“Teddy Lockes: the interactive teddy bear
an analytical study of the daily lives
of a nuclear family of three
OR
an analytical study of the faerie (fairy) tale
in the technological age.
(Character and Story ©Jay Myers 2000-2007)”

It’s definitely a trippy, funny story.
Well here he is my take on his character.

Messing around…

Just messing around…
Description:Hi All… Things are finally slowing down and evening out so, I am hoping (really hoping) that I will be able to post things on more of a regular basis. My goal is to at least post once a week. I am concentrating mostly on character design right now, so that will probably be what you see the most of for at least a little while. They may be pretty random because I don’t really have an overall theme for them as a group.

Anyway, hope you enjoy!

InVista Rim Poster
Description:I recently got back in contact with a friend whom I used to work with at VML Advertising. Jason Gramke now works for Koch Creative Group out of Witchita. Jason was awesome enough to hook me up with a new gig. I worked with Dustin Commer at Koch to create a full color poster illustration and 4 smaller black and white line art illustrations for their client, InVista. I created the poster entirely in Adobe Illustrator, it is my app of choice these days. Anyway, thanks guys for the gig and I hope we can work on some different projects on down the line.

Enjoy!

Where have I been? And a new image.

By | Character Designs | 3 Comments

Well it’s been a busy first part of the year, with work and with life. I have a few things on my plate. One advertising job, a job I can’t really talk about (shhhhh) and a project that I will talk about and post some stuff eventually. 😉 But for now I will only be able to post now and again.

This character was created for a cameo in D.R. Perry’s (Honor Studios) comic “War in Paradise”.

D.R. asked me to design him with an ethnic angle as all of his angels have been designed to some ethnic group. You can check out the prelude comic for free here. I really love this concept and I have always wanted to create something that dealt with Angels. They seem so powerful and so very interesting. This book definitely explores that idea and if you get a chance to pick up the prelude. As for the cameo, I am not sure what issue he will be in but I will let you know. He doesn’t have a name yet, so if anyone of you three people reading this has an idea… I am open for suggestions.

I want to add a background to this piece in the future, so don’t be surprised to see him again all finished up.

Take care.

Kevin
