InVista Rim Poster
Description:I recently got back in contact with a friend whom I used to work with at VML Advertising. Jason Gramke now works for Koch Creative Group out of Witchita. Jason was awesome enough to hook me up with a new gig. I worked with Dustin Commer at Koch to create a full color poster illustration and 4 smaller black and white line art illustrations for their client, InVista. I created the poster entirely in Adobe Illustrator, it is my app of choice these days. Anyway, thanks guys for the gig and I hope we can work on some different projects on down the line.

Enjoy!

Where have I been? And a new image.

Well it’s been a busy first part of the year, with work and with life. I have a few things on my plate. One advertising job, a job I can’t really talk about (shhhhh) and a project that I will talk about and post some stuff eventually. 😉 But for now I will only be able to post now and again.

This character was created for a cameo in D.R. Perry’s (Honor Studios) comic “War in Paradise”.

D.R. asked me to design him with an ethnic angle as all of his angels have been designed to some ethnic group. You can check out the prelude comic for free here. I really love this concept and I have always wanted to create something that dealt with Angels. They seem so powerful and so very interesting. This book definitely explores that idea and if you get a chance to pick up the prelude. As for the cameo, I am not sure what issue he will be in but I will let you know. He doesn’t have a name yet, so if anyone of you three people reading this has an idea… I am open for suggestions.

I want to add a background to this piece in the future, so don’t be surprised to see him again all finished up.

Take care.

Kevin

Santaman cometh…

Santaman
Description: Hi All… been a bit since I posted last, I have been pretty busy as of late. Things are slowing down some now and that allows me to post up some images that I have done recently. Starting with this fellow.

This is Santaman… created by a fellow deviant art member Daniel Djanie.

When I first saw Daniels work it was in the form of a trailer for his character “Santaman” (see that trailer here). I love the character of Santa and I personally think it is a character that is under developed and could be taken in a direction that makes a person say “Oh yeah that makes total sense for Santa to be like that.”. We mostly see Santa as a Christmas time character but Christmas only happens once a year. What happens the rest of the time? Well, I like Daniel’s take on that, Santa is a superhero. He is Santaman!

Daniel has published a couple of comics with Santaman you can see them here. [link] and [link] And definitely checkout Daniel’s DA gallery. It’s worth a visit .

Enjoy and the Santaman trailer is a MUST SEE!!!

Thanks for looking.

Happy New Year!

Meggdon the Dragon
Description: I created this guy as part of the Gimmick Dragon series that Joshua Janes and I will be running over at Mojizu.com. Meggdon is a dragon of the apocalypse when he arrives the end is here. Created in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.

Well it’s a New Year, that means new beginnings and resolutions. And, I have several resolutions. My business resolutions really are just an extension of what I started at the end of 2006. To continue to post new stuff, that means I need to draw more and to make my way into other avenues of illustration as well as continuing to work with various advertisers.

I would really like to get into character designs, so this year I am pressing hard to make contacts and to push my art in that direction. Not forsaking the work I am doing now but trying to stretch my creative prowess. I really enjoy designing characters, there is nothing, that I find, to be more rewarding.

So here’s to the New Year and new directions. I hope you all have a very excellent year and that you too have goals that moving towards.

Enjoy!

The All New universe K.com

welcome

Welcome to the new universe K.com.

If you’re wondering why the change, well, after much consideration, I decided that the old flash site was just not convenient enough for updating. Don’t get me wrong I love flash and there is flash in this site, but, I am no ActionScripter. I love the animation but actionScript is just too much for my tiny artist brain to handle.

So within the last year I have been exploring the wonderful world of blogs. Some of you may have been a visitor to my old blog site, EraserLand.com. I say old because EraserLand is no more. At least not for use as my blog.

Let me explain it all a little further. I have found that the admin tool and the posting abilities were so, very, simple. So… I got the bright idea to re-tool a blog template to fit my needs. I reformatted a template called “chaotic-soul v1” to be a blog and website combined. It has all the functionality of a website, with the usability of a web blog; the best of both worlds. I hope to be able to update this site as much as I have been updating Eraserland, which has been quite a bit.

So, let me know what you think. I welcome comments and critiques. And don’t worry, if I don’t like either, I will just delete them. :)

Thanks

Kevin “universe K” Myers
